A Story of Freedom: The Journey of Asif Masih’s Family
This is a powerful story of suffering, faith, and ultimate freedom.
Asif Masih and his family spent many years trapped in brick kiln slavery, a harsh system where debt binds families to forced labor with little hope of escape. During this time, the family endured severe hardship. One of their children, who lives with a disability, faced abuse and deep persecution, adding to their pain.
In the midst of this suffering, the family found hope through faith. While still in bondage, they accepted Lord Jesus Christ and began to pray earnestly for freedom, holding onto the belief that their situation could change.
In 2024, a turning point came. The family connected with Pastor Naqash, who listened to their situation and extended support. Their case was then shared with an international team. Soon after, Senior Pastor Jono Martin from Richmond New Life Church in New Zealand visited Pakistan for the first time. During his visit, he preached the message of Jesus Christ to new believers and spoke strongly about freedom for those trapped in brick kiln slavery.
Moved by the family’s situation, Pastor Jono Martin took a life-changing step—he paid off the debt that had kept Asif Masih’s family in bondage. With that, the family was finally released and stepped into a new life of freedom.
After their release, their lives began to transform. The children, once deprived of opportunities, started attending school. Asif Masih found work in a nearby village to support his family with dignity. Today, they are living a normal life—free from bondage, with hope for the future.
This story is not only about one family’s freedom but also reflects the reality faced by many others still trapped in similar conditions. It is a reminder of both the deep challenges of debt bondage and the impact that faith, compassion, and practical support can have in changing lives
